VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State Men play on the road this weekend in two crucial games in the Frontier Conference. Friday the Vikings are in Dickinson to face the Blue Hawks. Saturday, they travel to the capitol city to take on the Bismarck State Mystics.
Valley City State is currently 9-14 overall and 5-13 in the Frontier Conference. Dickinson State is 7-17 overall and 5-13 in the conference. Bismarck State is 1-23 on the season and 1-17 in the conference.
Valley City State, Dickinson State, and Providence are currently tied for the eighth and final spot in the Frontier Conference postseason tournament. Heading into the weekend, the Vikings and Blue Hawks hold the tie break over Providence which makes Friday's game have major postseason implications. The two team's played January 17
th at the Jamestown Civic Center and the Vikings pulled away for a 96-92 win. Freshman
Joel Nelson had a career high 22 points in that win for Valley City State.
JR Cison scored 18 points and handed out five assists. The Vikings had five players in double figures in that game.
The Vikings hold a 28-27 advantage in the series since 2003.
Bismarck State has lost the last seven games and have given up 100 or more points in three of those games, including 100 against Valley City State back on January 20
th at the Jamestown Civic Center. The Vikings were led by
Kaleb Larson who scored a season high 29 points.
Logan Deal scored a season high 22 points and added 14 rebounds for his third double-double of the season.
JR Cison also had a double-double with eleven points and a season high ten assists. The Vikings had 14 three-pointers in that game in the 100-88 win.
