Viking Men look to build off win, travel to Billings Friday

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State Men's basketball team are on the road in Montana this weekend. Friday the Vikings take on (RV) Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. Saturday, they head to the capital city and take on #15 Carroll College in Helena.

The Vikings are 5-9 overall and 1-8 in the Frontier Conference. They are coming off a 88-80 win over Providence last Saturday at the Bubble. Rocky Mountain comes into the game 12-3 on the season and 7-2 in the Frontier Conference. Carroll College is 10-4 overall and 8-1 in the conference.

JR Cison leads Valley City State in scoring (16.4 ppg), assists (32), and steals (12). He is coming off a 21-point, seven-assist game against Providence last week. Kaleb Larson is averaging 12.8 points per game and is making 95 percent of his free throws (19-20). Logan Deal is just under averaging in double figures for the season (9.9). But is averaging 10.3 points per game in conference play. Deal scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the win over Providence.

This will be the seventh meeting all-time between these two schools. The Battlin Bears have won five of the previous six meetings. Rocky Mountain won the last meeting, a 79-72 decision, in November of 2024.
This is the second meeting all-time between VCSU and Carroll College in basketball. The Fighting Saints won the only meeting, 63-60, in Valley City in 2014.
