VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Valley City State Men's basketball team will be hosting two Frontier Conference opponents this weekend at two different venues.
On Friday, the Vikings will host Dakota State University at the Claire Blikre Activities Center/Ed Werre Arena on the campus of then North Dakota State College of Science.
This will be the 51
st meeting between Dakota State and Valley City State since 2003. The series is split right down the middle 25-25. The Trojans won the last meeting on December 6
th in Madison. Dakota State led by as much as 30 with 12:16 to go in the second half but the Vikings battled back with a 20-1 run to cut the lead to eleven with 4:28 to go in the second half. But the Trojans hit nine of ten free throws down the stretch to pick up the win.
Logan Deal had 13 points and ten rebounds for the Vikings.
Kaleb Larson added twelve points.
This is the 28
th meeting between the two schools with Bellevue holding a 18-9 advantage. The Vikings did have a stretch where they won six of eight games between 2023 and 2025. Bellevue won in December 90-74. The Bruins led by as much as 27 in the second half. The Vikings could only get the lead down to 16 before they ran out of time.
JR Cison led the Vikings with 17 points.
Taylor Bryant-Frey added 15.
JR Cison leads the Vikings with a 16.9 points per game average. He also leads the team in assists (61) and steals (18).
Kaleb Larson, the reigning Offensive Player of the Week in the Frontier Conference is averaging 15.5 points per game.
Logan Deal is averaging 10.1 points per game and a team high 8.1 rebounds per contest.
All passes will be honored at the gate. So have your passes out ready to be presented. There will also be a cash gate.
Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday in Wahpeton and 5:00 p.m. Saturday in Moorhead.
