VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The Men's and Women's doubleheader with Bismarck State College in Frontier Conference basketball will be played Tuesday, January 20
th at the Jamestown Civic Center. The Women tipoff at 4:00 p.m., the Men tipoff at 6:00 p.m.
For the Women,
Ellie Braaten leads the team in several categories. She is tops on the scoring chart, averaging 13.1 points per game, 14.0 points per game in conference play. She leads the team in assists (51), defensive rebounds (69), and steals (35).
JayCee Richter is averaging 9.8 points per game, and she leads the team in rebounding averaging 6.2 boards per contest.
Abby Aslesen is averaging 9.4 points per game and is tops in total rebounds with 86. She is averaging 5.4 rebounds per contest. She has been playing her best basketball of the season as of late, scoring 20 points in two of the last four games.
Tiyana Schwinghammer is averaging 8.1 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per contest.
Valley City State is 5-11 on the season and 2-10 in the Frontier Conference. The Mystics are 4-12 overall and 4-8 in the Frontier Conference.
This will be the first meeting between Bismarck State and VCSU. This is the Mystics first season as a four-year school and joined the Frontier Conference with the five teams from the North Star Athletic Association.
The VCSU Men are led by
JR Cison who is averaging 17.2 points per game, 15.9 in Frontier Conference games. He also leads the team in assists and steals.
Kaleb Larson is next in line averaging 14.2 points per game, 14.9 in the conference.
Logan Deal and Taylor Bryant-Frye are closing in on averaging in double figures. Deal is averaging 9.2 points per game, and Bryant-Frye is averaging 8.7. Deal leads in the team in rebounding with a 7.4 per game average.
The Viking Men are 6-11 overall and 2-10 in the Frontier Conference. Bismarck State is 1-17 overall and 1-11 in conference games.
