VALLEY CITY, N.D. – After some time off for the holiday break, the Valley City State University Viking Men's basketball team returns to the court with conference games against Montana State-Northern on Friday, January 2
nd and the University of Providence on Saturday, January 3
rd. Games both nights tipoff at 7:00 p.m. at the Bubble.
The Viking's are 4-8 overall coming into the weekend and 0-7 in the Frontier Conference. Montana State-Northern is 8-5 overall and 3-4 in the Frontier Conference. The University of Providence is 1-12 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
Offensively, the Vikings are led by
JR Cison who is averaging 15.7 points per game. Cison leads the team in assists (22) and tied with
Caden Grinde for the lead in steals (11).
Kaleb Larson is second in scoring with a 11.8 points per game average.
Logan Deal is averaging 9.4 points per game and a team high 7.1 rebounds per contest.
This will be the third meeting all-time between Valley City State and Montana State-Northern. They have split the first two meetings with the Northern Lights winning last season 68-60. This is the first time they have met in Valley City.
This will be the fourth meeting between the Vikings and Argos. Valley City State has won two of the previous three meetings. VCSU won the last meeting, 76-75 in overtime in 2017. Providence won the only time they played in Valley City, 101-99, back in 2004.
Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights
