Jimmies shut out Vikings in NSAA winner's bracket

The Valley City State softball team was shut out by the NSAA's top seed University of Jamestown Friday in the NSAA Tournament's winner's bracket. Jamestown took the 8-0 victory in 8 innings, decided by run rule on Lauren Weigel's RBI double.

VCSU could only manage four hits Friday against Jamestown's Hope Ransome. Ashlyn Diemert, Maddy Zander, Kylee Banerd and Lauren Nixon each singled in the game but could not convert baserunners into runs scored. VCSU drops to 23-22 overall while Jamestown improves to 33-15.

Maddy Zander didn't allow a single Jimmie hit until the fourth inning when Jamestown erupted for five runs on five hits to take the lead. After holding the Jimmies scoreless in the fifth inning, Jamestown found three runs in the sixth inning including RBI's from Sydney Grendler, Trinity Gregg and Weigel to take the game by run-rule.
