Vikings men's basketball falls to Jamestown 75-68

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Valley City State University men's basketball fell 75-68 to the University of Jamestown on Friday, Feb. 7. The Vikings are now 11-12 and 2-9 in NSAA conference games. Jamestown moves to 13-9 and 8-3 in NSAA conference games.
 
The Vikings took an early 9-4 lead in the first three minutes of the game. The Jimmies responded with a Silas Binnion three making the score 9-7. The Jimmies took the lead at 13-11 with 13 minutes remaining in the first half.
 
VCSU reclaimed the lead at 19-17 where the teams went back and forth trading lead changes until 2:45 left in the first half. With the score of 28-28, the Jimmies finished the first half strong with taking a 37-33 lead into halftime.
 
At halftime the Vikings shot 12-23 from the field, 4-7 from the three-point line, and 5-6 from the free throw line. The Vikings were led by Odier Olane with seven points and a block.
 
The Jimmies shot 15-33, 4-10 from the three-point line, and 3-3 from the free throw line.
 
In the second Jamestown got off to a quick start growing their existing lead to 47-37. Valley City battled back to get with three with the score of 51-48 with 9:19 left in the game. The Jimmies once again grew their lead to ten at 62-52. In the last minute the Vikings got within five but came up short finishing the game at 75-68.
 
Valley City shot 26-53 from the field, 7-17 from the three-point line and 9-13 from the free throw line. They were led by Lamar Grayson with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and a block. Jayden Patch tallied 17 points, two steals, and two rebounds.
 
Jamestown finished shooting 26-56, 8-20 from the three-point line, and 15-20 from the free throw line.
