BILLINGS, MONT. – The Valley City State University cross country team competed in the Frontier Conference Championships. Viking freshman
Frida Barrera took third place, running a 22:28.90 6K, qualifying for nationals while finishing just 1.1 seconds of school record pace. Barrera earned Frontier All-Conference honors.
Viking women finished 9th of 11 teams in the 6K at the Conference Championships hosted at Amend Park (5101 King Ave. East, Billings, Mont.). Rocky Mountain (Mont.) is the host for the 2025 Frontier Conference Cross Country Championships. Barrera ran a 22:28.90, taking third place. She was followed by Paition Flick, who ran a 25:11.80, taking 49th place. Third for the Vikings was
Billie Maye Pohlkamp, who ran a 26:40.20, earning 61st place.
Emma Muggli took 72nd, running a 28:38.80. Jenna Decker and Ashlyn Schumacher finished 80th and 81st after running a 32:22.60 and a 32:22.70.
Viking men took 9th of 11 in the 8K at the Frontier Conference Championships. Senior
Mason Brehmer led the men, running a 27:29.80, good for 43rd place. He was followed by
Kole Albers, a freshman, running a 27:49.30. Viking sophomore,
Zach Baumgartner, took 59th with a 28:07.80. In 67th was
Tate Minnihan running a 28.42.90. In fifth for the Vikings,
Gage Gunther ran a 29:51.00 finishing in 84th. Rounding out the Viking men,
Isaac Eichhorst ran a 31:19.80.
Freshman
Frida Barrera will represent the Vikings at Tallahassee, Fla., in the NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships. Barrera punched her ticket to nationals after finishing in the top four of the Frontier conference race. Nationals will be held on Friday, Nov. 21, at Apalachee Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
