Valley City State's Sadie Hansen and Morgan Nelson have each earned NSAA Player of the Week awards, the conference office announced Monday. Hansen was selected as Setter of the Week while Nelson was named Defender of the Week. 

Aleah Zieske of Jamestown (N.D.) was selected as the Attacker of the Week.

NSAA Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week
Sadie Hansen – Valley City State (N.D.) – 5'10", Senior, setter – Oakes, N.D. – Hansen posted a season-high 55 set assists as (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) held on to a 3-2 home thriller over Mayville State (N.D.). She posted a double-double with 19 digs in VCSU's lone match of the week. Hansen added five kills and a block. She averaged 11.0 set assists and 3.8 digs per set.

NSAA Volleyball Defender-of-the-Week
Morgan Nelson – Valley City State (N.D.) – 6'0", Senior, right side/middle blocker – Argusville, N.D. – Nelson tied a school record 11 blocks in (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) 3-2 home thriller over Mayville State (N.D.). She averaged 2.2 blocks per set in Vikings' lone match of the week. Nelson produced a double-double with 14 kills in the match. She registered a .500 hitting percentage. 

NSAA Volleyball Attacker-of-the-Week
Aleah Zieske – Jamestown (N.D.) – 5'10", Senior, outside hitter – Spicer, Minn. – Zieske averaged 5.5 kills per set as No. 3 ranked Jamestown (N.D.) remained undefeated this season after going 2-0 record in the North Star Athletic Association action.  She posted a double-double of 18 kills (6.0 kills per set) and 12 digs (4.0 digs per set) in UJ's 3-0 sweep over No. 8 ranked Bellevue (Neb.).  She recorded a hitting percentage of .359 in the match.  She followed up with 15 kills and five digs in Jimmies' 3-0 victory over (RV) Dakota State (S.D.).  For the week, Zieske totaled 33 kills and 17 digs (2.8 digs per set).  She also had two service aces.
  
Recap from last week's action
Jamestown (N.D.), ranked No. 3 in the latest NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, remained undefeated this season after ballooning their winning streak to 12 matches.  The Jimmies opened their home schedule with a pair of 3-0 victories in the North Star Athletic Association action, defeating No. 8 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) on Sept. 27 and (RV) Dakota State (S.D.) on Sept. 28.  UJ is 12-0 overall record and 4-0 NSAA conference record.

Dakota State, who swept Mount Marty (S.D.) in a non-conference match on Sept. 24, defeated Dickinson State (N.D.) in three straight sets on Sept. 27.  The Bruins held on to defeat the Blue Hawks in a five-set thriller on Sept. 28.  Bellevue is 15-3 overall record and 2-1 NSAA conference record.  Dakota State is 11-7 overall record and 1-2 NSAA conference record.  Dickinson State is 4-12 overall record and 0-4 NSAA conference record.

Valley City State (N.D.), receiving votes in the national poll, held on to a five-set home thriller over Mayville State (N.D.) on Sept. 25.  VCSU is 10-5 overall record and 2-1 record in the league.  The Comets dropped a pair of non-conference matches to Winnipeg (Manitoba) on Sept. 27-28.  MSU is 7-8 overall record and 1-2 NSAA conference record.

Looking Ahead
Mayville State (N.D.) remains home Tuesday evening as they host NCAA Division III Concordia (Minn.).  No. 8 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) visits Hastings (Neb.) on the same night.

The first half of the North Star Athletic Association action concludes this week.  (RV) Valley City State (N.D.) travels to (RV) Dakota State (S.D.), while No. 3 ranked Jamestown (N.D.) hosts Dickinson State (N.D.).

The Vikings make a trip to Bellevue on Thursday evening in the North Star action.  Mayville State visits Bellevue on Friday evening and then travel to Dakota State on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the first half of the conference schedule.
