VALLEY CITY – For the third time in the last four games, the Valley City State baseball team went to extra innings Wednesday night.

VCSU starter Hunter Magnuson dazzled with a career-high 15 strikeouts as pitchers dominated the night and combined to allowed just three total runs at Charlie Brown Field. Jamestown's offense pushed across a run in the top of the 12th inning though as the Jimmies edged the Vikings, 2-1.

Jamestown would tie the game in the fifth inning, using a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly by Alex Alva to push across the tying run. The game would stay 1-1 until the top of the 12th when Triston Madison delivered a two-out RBI single, scoring Riki Okamoto for the go-ahead run.

The Vikings put a pair of runners on in the 12th, but Jamestown pitcher Luke Zimmer got a groundout and strikeout to end the threat and the game. VCSU had major threats in both the eighth and ninth innings, leaving the bases loaded in each inning.
