Cleveland Bedgood scored 29 points Wednesday night to lead the VCSU men's basketball team during an exhibition game at NCAA Division II Minot State University.
Minot State opened up a 41-25 halftime lead and defeated the Vikings 78-56.
The game was an exhibition contest for VCSU and does not count towards the team's overall record. The Vikings remain 7-4 overall this season. Minot State improves to 6-2 with the victory.
With the game tied 12-12, Minot State took control with a 12-1 run midway through the first half.
Bedgood's 29 points was one shy of his season high, which came against Mount Marty back on Nov. 4. On Wednesday in Minot, Bedgood shot 11-for-18 and finished with 29 points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Odier Olange shot 4-for-6 as he put up 11 points, five rebounds and four blocks for the Vikings.
VCSU shot 41 percent overall (21-51), 32 percent on 3's (7-22) and 64 percent at the line (7-11). Minot State shot 45 percent overall (30-67), 31 percent on 3's (9-29) and 69 percent on free throws (9-13).
Minot State held a 45-24 rebounding advantage, including a 15-2 edge in offensive rebounds. The teams combined for just 19 turnovers, which included 11 by VCSU and eight by Minot State.
