Football travels to play Waldorf

Viking Football is on the road this weekend for another big conference game.

Coming off a 34-10 loss to No. 22-ranked Dickinson State, the Vikings look to bounce back Saturday at Waldorf University. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. from Forest City, Iowa. Pregame radio coverage begins at 12 p.m. on Q101.1 KQDJ FM and online at www.newsdakota.com.

The Vikings and Warriors are currently tied for second place (2-1 record) in the NSAA standings, just one game back of conference leader Dickinson State. Saturday's winner keeps themselves within striking distance of Dickinson State heading into the second half of conference play. Counting Saturday, there are five conference games remaining.

Both VCSU and Waldorf are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the NSAA. Waldorf had a bye last week but lost 41-14 to Dickinson State in its last contest. The Vikings and Warriors both have conference wins against Dakota State and Mayville State.

Valley City State leads the all-time series with Waldorf, 10-3, dating back to the 2014 season. The Vikings have won the last five meetings, including a 35-14 win at Waldorf last season. Prior to last year, the last four meetings had all been decided by one score or less.

The Vikings will have a bye on Oct. 14 and then host Dakota State on Oct. 21. VCSU and Waldorf will rematch in the regular season finale on Nov. 11 in Valley City.
