Six different Vikings scored in double figures Friday afternoon, but it wasn't quite enough as the VCSU men's basketball team dropped a high-scoring affair in overtime.

Brandon University made its first five 3-pointers of the game and sank 17 3's overall as the hot-shooting Bobcats defeated VCSU 108-105 on Friday. Brandon University led 52-47 at halftime but the Vikings would rally back in the second half and the teams ended regulation tied at 95-95 before Brandon pulled off the overtime win.

Valley City State drops to 1-1 to start the season, splitting its two games this week against Brandon. The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 1, hosting a women's and men's doubleheader against Minnesota-Morris.

VCSU's
Jerome Washington made six 3-pointers and poured in a team-high 22 points on Friday for the Vikings. Washington sank four 3's in a row in the first half, jump-starting a Viking offense that started slow. He also sank a go-ahead 3-pointer with one minute remaining in regulation before Brandon rallied to tie the game and force OT.

Cayden Rickard finished with 17 points and three assists, and
Caden Grinde had 13 points with a team-high seven assists.
Hunter Lyman posted his second straight double-double to open the season, tallying 15 points and 15 rebounds Friday.
Lamar Grayson had 15 points off the bench, and
LaDarious Stanfield finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Valley City State shot 44 percent overall (40-91), 30 percent on 3's (9-30) and 76 percent at the line (16-21). Brandon University shot 57 percent in the first half and 56 percent overall (42-75). The Bobcats were 49 percent from 3-point range (17-35) and 58 percent at the line (7-12).

The Bobcats were led by 25 points from Jack McDonald and a 22-points, 11-rebound double-double by Sultan Haider Bhatti.

Friday's game featured seven ties and 15 lead changes. Brandon University led by as many as 17 points after its hot start early in the game. The Vikings held a 6-point advantage midway through the second half for their largest lead of the seesaw game.
