VALLEY CITY – The Valley City State women's basketball team never trailed Wednesday night as the Vikings defeated Trinity Bible College 94-58 at home.
VCSU's Hailey Roberts posted a career-best 22 points and four Vikings scored in double figures to help the Vikings to a 7-2 record on the season. Trinity Bible falls to 2-3 overall.
The Vikings built a 37-25 lead at the break as Roberts and Taryn Dieterle each posted 13 first-half points. From there, VCSU improved its 33 percent shooting in the first half to 53 percent in the second half. VCSU used a 10-point run, capped by a bucket from Bayli Heap, to lead by as much as 37 points with 4:39 to go in the game.
Dieterle finished with 15 points Wednesday and JayCee Richter chipped in 14 points while going 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Ashlyn Diemert added 10 points and a team-best five steals for VCSU.

The Vikings shot 43 percent on field goals (34-80), 33 percent on 3-pointers (12-36) and 88 percent on free throws (16-18). Trinity Bible shot 38 percent from the field (18-47), 36 percent from beyond the arc (4-11) and 55 percent from the free throw line (18-33). VCSU scored 45 points off its bench and 37 off turnovers.
VCSU won the battle on the glass 46-40 with the help of nine rebounds from Rosie Anderson. Dieterle added seven and Adriana Torres grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists Wednesday. The Vikings tallied 25 assists and 17 turnovers while Trinity Bible totaled 13 assists to its 31 turnovers.
Trinity Bible's Stacia West led scoring with 18 points, and Abby Molan finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
