Viking Volleyball Splits on Day Two of Baker Invite

The Valley City State volleyball team split their final two games at the Baker Invite in Baldwin City, Kan. Saturday.

The Vikings took the win against tournament host Baker University in four sets 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, and 25-17.

Valley City State then fell to Bethany College in three straight, 19-25, 18-25, and 15-25.

The Vikings are now 3-6 on the season. Baker Univeristy falls to 6-9 while Bethany College improves to 6-4.

UP NEXT: Valley City State hosts Concordia College-Moorhead on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. in Graichen Gym.

Freshmen led the Viking offense Saturday morning with Clara Wieland recording 11 kills, Bailey Nelson tallying 10, and Caitlyn Fishbach adding seven. Reagan Ingstad contributed 27 assists for the Vikings and Alexa Walby tallied 11.

Charlotte Huschka tallied a team-high 19 digs and Morganne Eppard recorded 14.

Five Vikings totaled 12 ace serves in the match including Ingstad (4), Huschka (3), Walby (2), Eppard (2), and Kallene Klever (1).

Valley City State 0, Bethany College 3
The Vikings tallied only 27 kills to the Swedes' 45 Saturday afternoon in the 0-3 loss. Clara Wieland recorded a team-high with six while Nissa Johnson, Kylie Tucker, and Bailey Nelson each added five. Reagan Ingstad tallied 14 assists while Alexa Walby added 10. Huschka recorded team-high 20 digs for Valley City State.
