Box Score VALLEY CITY – The University of Jamestown's full court pressure propelled the Jimmies to a 73-60 win over Valley City State in women's basketball Wednesday night.
Jamestown forced the Vikings into 33 turnovers leading to 25 more shots for the Jimmies. Jamestown also tallied 14 offensive rebounds leading to 17 second chance points Wednesday.
Valley City State shot 44 percent overall (20-45), 30 percent on 3's (6-20), and 64 percent on free throws (14-22). University of Jamestown shot 36 percent overall (25-71), 32 percent on 3's (11-34), and 86 percent from the free throw line (12-14).
Jamestown never trailed in the game and led by as much as 23 points in the first half. Valley City State scored five straight to end the first half but trailed 37-20 heading into the locker room.
Valley City State gained some momentum in front of their home crowd early in the third quarter scoring nine straight, capped by a 3-pointer from Macey Kvilvang to get within 14 of Jamestown.
Valley City State outscored Jamestown 25-15 in the fourth quarter including 12 from Dani Schwanke who went four-for-five on 3's. The Vikings' momentum couldn't carry them back as they fell to the Jimmies 73-60.
Dani Schwanke led the Vikings with 12 points and Mackenzie Huber added 10 for the Vikings. Macey Kvilvang added nine points including 4-for-4 on free throws, seven rebounds, and two blocks.
Jamestown had three Jimmies score in double digits Wednesday including 16 from Hannah DeMars and 11 each from Macy Nilsen and Kia Tower.
Valley City State falls to 2-3 this season while University of Jamestown improves to a 4-1 record.
