Vikings fall 104-86 to No. 16 Jimmies

JAMESTOWN – Valley City State's men's basketball team dropped a Monday night road match to No. 16 University of Jamestown, 104-86.

Jamestown shot 67 percent in the first half en route to a 104-86 victory over the Vikings. With Jamestown leading 46-38 and 2:38 remaining in the first half, Jamestown would go on a 12-2 run to take a 58-40 lead heading into the locker room.

A Logan Nelson basket cut the Jimmie lead to 13 points early in the second half but the Vikings could not get closer as the home crowd fueled the Jimmies to a 104-86 home victory. Terrell Alfred paced the Jimmies with 14 points off the bench in the second half.

The Vikings shot 47 percent from the field (32-68), 43 percent on 3's (6-14), and 80 percent on free throws (16-20).

Logan Nelson finished with a double-double to lead the Vikings with 32 points and 10 rebounds Monday night. Jalen Addison poured in 19 points while Hunter Sand added 13.

Jamestown shot 55 percent from the field (42-76), 35 percent on 3's (11-15), and 73 percent from the free throw line (11-15). The Jimmies also recorded 23 assists to the Vikings' 10 on Monday.

Five Jimmies scored in double digits Monday, led by a team-high 25 from Terrell Alfred. Mason Walters recorded a double-double as he recorded 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Jimmies. Brock Schrom added 16 points, Isaiah Dobson tallied 15 points and Brady Birch added 10 off the bench.

Valley City State falls to 0-3 overall this season. University of Jamestown improves to 4-1 on the season.

UP NEXT: Valley City State hosts a pair of home games this weekend as they face No. 25 Dordt University on Friday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. and Northwestern College on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m.
