Valley City State's volleyball team wrapped up its trip to Mitchell, S.D., with a pair of losses on Saturday, falling to both Clarke University and Dakota Wesleyan in four sets.
The Vikings finish the trip to the Corn Palace Classic with a 1-3 record.
Up next: VCSU (1-3, 0-0 NSAA) is on the road Wednesday night for an exhibition match at Concordia-Moorhead. First serve is at 7 p.m.
Clarke 3, VCSU 1
The Vikings won set one, 25-23, but Clarke would win the next three sets for victory. Clarke evened the match with a 25-23 win in set two, and then put it away with 25-17 and 25-15 wins.
Hailie Wildes had 12 kills for VCSu while Clarissa Olson added eight kills. Meagan Schwarzrock had 21 assists and three aces, while Jaycee George finished with 22 digs.
Clarke outhit VCSU, .233 to .152, and out blocked the Vikings, 5-2.
Dakota Wesleyan 3, VCSU 1
VCSU again won set one in the final match of the day, but could not pull out close sets down the stretch as host Dakota Wesleyan won in four sets.
The Vikings took set one 25-19. Dakota Wesleyan evened the match with a 25-20 win in set two, and then won the final two sets in extra points, 27-25 and 30-28.
VCSU outhit Dakota Wesleyan, .238 to 201, but were hampered by 15 service error.
Megan Johnson had 14 kills and Clarissa Olson posted 10 kills for the Vikings. Jaycee George finished with 29 digs.
