The Viking volleyball team dropped a pair of conference matches on the road this weekend, losing in five sets at Dickinson State and three sets at the University of Jamestown.
VCSU drops to 7-9 overall and 2-3 in North Star Athletic Association matches. The Vikings are back on the road Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. match at Mayville State University.
The Vikings opened the weekend with a good start Friday night in Dickinson as they went up two sets to one on the Blue Hawks. Valley City State won set one 26-24, lost 21-25 in set two, but then took control of the match with a 25-22 win in set three.
Dickinson State did not go away on their home floor though and rallied for a 25-14 win in set four and won the clincher 15-12 to win the match.
On Saturday, the Vikings were overmatched by the University of Jamestown, which downed the Vikings 25-12, 25-16 and 25-10 in straight sets.
Up next: VCSU (7-9, 2-3 NSAA) plays at Mayville State on Tuesday, Sept. 29. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Mayville.
