Viking men eliminated by Jimmies

The Valley City State University men's basketball team had its season come to a close Wednesday night during the quarterfinals of the North Star Athletic Association postseason tournament.

The No. 6-seeded Vikings played at top seed University of Jamestown, falling by a final score of 94-65.

The Jimmies blistered the nets, shooting 65 percent from the field and 55 percent on 3-pointers on their home courts.

VCSU was led by 18 points from Riley West. Jayden Ferguson had 15 points and five rebounds, and Chase Carpenter had 13 points and six rebounds off the VCSU bench.

The Vikings shot 37 percent overall (23-62), 33 percent on 3's (9-27) and 67 percent on free throws (10-15).

The Jimmies finished 33-for-51 from the field and 11-20 from the 3-point line. Jamestown made 68 percent of its free throws (17-25).

Valley City State, which featured 13 freshmen and sophomores this year, ends the season with a 12-18 overall record.
