Valley City State University recorded a .322 attacking percentage Saturday as the Viking volleyball team swept Dickinson State, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-19.
The Vikings improve to 8-18 overall, snapping an 11-match losing streak with the home victory. VCSU is now 3-9 in conference play. Dickinson State drops to 5-24 overall and 2-6 in conference play.
VCSU had 41 kills Saturday while committing just 12 attack errors in 90 attempts. Dickinson also hit well in the match, recording a .277 hitting percentage.
Chelzie-Kristina Ulu had 10 kills and four service aces in VCSU's victory. Kanani Auwae and Seri Geisler each had nine kills. Steph Miller recorded 18 assists and four aces, and Taylor Balkan had 17 assists. Jaycee George served up five aces and recorded 11 digs.
Dickinson was led by eight kills each from Brenna Hansen and Magdalyn Rauser. Danielle Boyette had 26 assists and six digs.
VCSU started the match strong with 15 kills and a .464 attack percentage in a 25-14 first set victory. The Vikings went on to win a tight set two, 25-23, and sealed the victory with a 25-19 win in set three.
