Viking volleyball dropped a pair of conference road matches this weekend, falling at Dakota State in three sets and Presentation College in five sets.
VCSU opened the weekend with a 15-25, 21-25, 21-25 loss at Dakota State University. Kanani Auwae and Jodi Wilde each had seven kills in the match. Stephanie Miller had 25 assists and 10 digs, and Jaycee George recorded 17 digs.
On Saturday, the Vikings built an early 2-0 lead against Presentation College after winning the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-21. But the Saints rallied back on their home court for a 3-2 victory, winning the final three sets 25-22, 25-18, 15-13.
Seri Geisler had a big match for VCSU with 18 kills and a .273 hitting percentage. She was one of four Vikings to record double-digit kills. Tyler Bulawa had 12 kills and Kanani Auwae added 10 kills. Clarissa Olson recorded 11 kills and no errors in 21 attacks as she hit for a .527 percentage.
Stephanie Miller had 24 assists, two aces and 14 digs. Taylor Balkan had 21 assists and Hailie Wilds recorded 18 digs. Libero Jaycee George led the Viking defense with 33 digs. Rachel Hummel added six kills and five block assists.
The Vikings out-hit Presentation College .141 to .098 in the match, and both teams recorded seven blocks.
The two losses drop VCSU to 7-17 overall and 2-8 in conference play.
The Vikings have four home matches remaining to close out the regular season. VCSU hosts the University of Jamestown at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23. On Saturday, Oct. 24, the Vikings will host Dickinson State at 4 p.m.
