The Valley City State University volleyball team held home court Saturday during a triangular at Graichen Gymnasium.
The Vikings opened the day with a 3-1 win over Waldorf College (Iowa), by scores of 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 25-18.
Valley City was led by 11 kills each from Kaitlyn Heuring and Barb Ector. Alley Theroux had nine kills, and both Courtney Carlson and Rachel Hummel added eight kills as part of a balanced attack.
Heuring added five service aces and Jen Wettstein added four aces. Steph Miller (23 assists) and Megan Good (16 assists) combined for 39 assists in the victory. Jen Wettstein (16 digs) and Emily Plowman (10 digs) anchored the Viking defense.
Valley City State improves to 9-12 overall with the victory.
VCSU also played Bismarck State College in a scrimmage during the triangular.
