The Viking volleyball team completed a 2-0 weekend Saturday with a four-game victory over Dakota State, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24, 25-22.
On Senior Night for the Vikings, it was the three seniors that shined for VCSU. After being honored before the match, the Viking seniors delivered on the court. Senior hitters Alley Theroux (18) and Kaitlyn Heuring (11) combined for 29 kills, and senior libero Jen Wettstein led the Vikings with 23 digs.
The Vikings hits .212 as a team. Barb Ector added 11 kills and Jodi Wilde chipped in five. Megan Good had 23 assists and Steph Miller had 18 assists and four aces. Heruing added three aces, and both Ector and Emily Plowman each had a pair of aces.
Dakota State had a good hitting night as well, tallying a .255 attack percentage. The Trojans were led by 11 kills from Caitlin Pick and eight by Tessa Weeldreyer.
VCSU also defeated Presentation College on Friday night in three games, 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.
The Vikings are now above .500 in conference play at 3-2. VCSU is 11-12 overall. Dakota State drops to 14-9 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
